Richard Freishtat, Ph.D.
Associate Dean for Executive Education, Duke Fuqua School of Business
Richard Freishtat, Ph.D., serves as Associate Dean for Executive Education at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. In this role since 2022, Dr. Freishtat leads all aspects of the Executive Education portfolio including strategy, business development, finance, curriculum, and program delivery focused on making a positive impact through the cutting-edge work of faculty. He has been a leader in the Executive Education industry since 2018, where he spent four years with UC Berkeley Executive Education, within the Haas School of Business, serving first as Vice President of Curriculum and later as Senior Vice President and Head of Curriculum. Prior to his focus on Executive Education, Dr. Freishtat led faculty development at UC Berkeley for six years, directing the campus’ Center for Teaching and Learning.
In addition to leading Executive Education and faculty development centers, Dr. Freishtat has deep experience teaching. He has been a faculty member in Executive Education designing and delivering Communications and Leadership programs since 2013 to thousands of executives across the globe from start-ups to Fortune 50 companies. He has also taught courses on Communications, Persuasion, and Influence at the undergraduate and graduate levels while leading programs for faculty aimed to enhance their teaching effectiveness and student learning.
Dr. Freishtat has published several research articles and worked as a PI on NSF-funded grant projects. He earned his Ph.D. in Education from Arizona State University and his MA and BA in Rhetoric & Public Address from Pennsylvania State University.
