DINEO MATHLAKO
Deputy High Commissioner of South Africa, South African High Commission
Dineo Mathlako is an accomplished professional with a wealth of experience spanning over 17 years in the financial services industry. In her role as the Deputy High Commissioner of South Africa to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, she is responsible for facilitating trade, investment, and economic relations between South Africa and the UK.
Prior to her current role, Dineo served as the Head of Operations at the African Renaissance and International Cooperation Fund (ARF) within the Department of International Relations and Cooperation. In this capacity, she provided strategic direction and coordination for all ARF Secretariat activities, programs, and projects in alignment with government and Fund objectives.
Dineo worked for First National Bank and ABSA bank early in her career. Her professional experience extends beyond the financial services industry. She has worked as a Project Member for South African Investment at BAIC International Development Co. in Beijing, where she facilitated negotiations with business partners and conducted research on financial services offerings.
Dineo holds a Master of Commerce degree in Development Finance from the University of Cape Town, a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the same institution, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Witwatersrand. She was a founding member of Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP) student chapter at Wits in 2004 as its first Deputy Secretary.
Outside of her professional endeavours, Dineo is passionate about the empowerment of women and has actively advocated for their inclusion in projects funded by the ARF. She has served as a mentor for African students studying in Beijing.
With her extensive experience, leadership skills, and commitment to empowering others, Dineo Mathlako continues to make a significant impact in the financial services industry and international relations.
